Policy Implications
Through our workshops and our other work we have learned much about the priorities and concerns of Manitoba women. Over and over again we are reminded that poverty is a key concern for women in Manitoba and their families. Women's poverty is characterized by a lack of affordable, quality housing along with lack of affordable child care services. Insufficient public transportation and food insecurity remain challenges. Poverty is multi-dimensional and is experienced differently by women of colour, women with disabilities, elderly women, young women, women with children and rural and urban women.
For more on Manitoba women's economic priorities as they relate to public policy see the Executive Summary of our Gender Budget Project.
